GEL NAILS ARE SCARYYYYY

Yup, that's right.

GEL NAILS ARE FREAKY AS HELL!!

I got my first Gel nail experience in Hong Kong when I went last month.
The three of us (Bf, Pete & myself) were shopping at the Causeway Bay area & we saw many small shops promoting manicures.

I remember thinking: "Since we're already here, let's just go for it!" I've heard all the raves about gel nails so I wanted to try. The price stated on the pamplet shows around HKD 228 = SGD 50. It was still reasonably-priced so I went ahead.

UNTIL THEY ADDED IN ALL THE HIDDEN COSTS.

It makes me really angry that the total cost got up to HKD 588!!!! Imagine how much have they added! That was for nail extensions and for the design I wanted.

I'm not very pleased with items that has hidden costs. Which is one reason why I like my hotel's wedding package because they are all in NETT prices. Not additional 10% service charge & 7% GST, or additional charges per table for weekends / auspicious dates. That's besides the point anyway.

So I did the gel nails and they used a machine to buff away the top layer of my nails. Little did I realised what I was about to do was Hard Gel.

Hard gel nails are different from the normal soft gel which most local nail parlour offers. The former requires buffing with a machine, but advantages include the allowing of refills (?) when your nails grow out.
I MUST ADMIT THE NAILS WERE REALLY HARD. I'm someone that does alot of work, be it using my computer, household chores etc, and the gel nails actually lasted me for ONE MONTH!!!
Until it broke, that is.

& boy, when it breaks, it really frickin' hurt. It kinda drags your actual fingernails down when it chips, & that reminds me of those shows whereby the sick sadists tore off the nails of their prisoners. Nastyyy.

Anyway, when I removed the gel nails @ FEP, they used the darn machine to buff away my remaining gel. Now my nails are so frickishly thin & fragile!!!

So my advice: Stick with the soft gel & don't EVEN consider hard gel!

Alright, finished ranting. Ciaos!
